N*SYNC - The Winter Album (1998)

The Winter Album is a seasonal album released exclusively in Germany by American boy band NSYNC. Following the release of the group's eponymous debut album, NSYNC, in Germany in March 1997, NSYNC had mostly focused their attention on the British and American markets, releasing updated versions of the album in both territories in summer 1998, and preparing to release a seasonal album, Home for Christmas, in America for Christmas 1998. No material had been released in Germany since "Together Again", which was released on November 3, 1997. None of the tracks recorded for the British or American versions of their debut album had been released there, nor was any of the material recorded for Home for Christmas planned for release in Germany. So, the band decided that it was only fair that this material would be released there, as it was their support that kick-started their career and landed them a record deal with RCA Records. They took the five tracks recorded exclusively for the British and American editions of their debut album, and seven tracks from Home for Christmas, and packaged them together with a short interlude, "Family Affair", to create The Winter Album, made exclusively for release in Germany. The album was preceded by the lead single, "U Drive Me Crazy", which was released on September 29, 1998. The album was then released on November 17, and two weeks later, a second single, "Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays", was released to promote the album. The third and final single, "Thinking of You (I Drive Myself Crazy)", was released on February 22, 1999.

N*SYNC - No Strings Attached (2000)

No Strings Attached is the second studio album by American boy band NSYNC, released on March 21, 2000 by Jive Records. Looking to distinguish their music from that of their labelmates, its music incorporates pop and R&B styles. Prior to the release of the album, NSYNC separated from their management Trans Continental and their label RCA Records; its title is a play on the idea of independence from corporate control. Contributions to the album's production came from a wide range of producers, including group members Justin Timberlake and JC Chasez and new collaborators Kristian Lundin, Jake Schulze, Rami Yacoub, Teddy Riley, Kevin "She'kspere" Briggs, Richard Marx, Veit Renn, Babyface, and Guy Roche.

After several delays due to legal battles, No Strings Attached was met with generally favorable reviews from music critics. The album debuted atop the U.S. Billboard 200 with first-week sales of 2.4 million copies, setting the record for one-week sales in the country; a record that lasted 15 years, until Adele surpassed the first-week sales record in 2015 with her third studio album 25. Four singles were released from the album. Its lead single "Bye Bye Bye" is credited with creating the hype for the album's eventual landmark success.

N*SYNC - NSYNC (1997/1998)

N*SYNC is the self-titled debut studio album by American boy band N*SYNC. It was first released in Germany on May 26, 1997, before receiving a worldwide release in 1998.

The album's official lead single, "I Want You Back", was released in Germany on October 7, 1996, and entered the top 10 in Germany on November 18, 1996. The group's second single, "Tearin' Up My Heart", was released in Germany on February 10, 1997, also peaking within the top 10. A third single, "Here We Go", was released in Germany on May 5, 1997, just three weeks prior to the release of the album, to similar success. Their self-titled debut album was then released by BMG Ariola Munich on May 26, 1997, in Germany, peaked at number one in the week of release. The group soon became an overnight success throughout much of Europe. The album also charted successfully in both Switzerland and Austria eventually selling 820,000 units in GSA (Germany, Switzerland, Austria) region and Eastern Europe. Two further singles, "For the Girl Who Has Everything" and "Together Again", were subsequently released on August 18 and November 3, 1997 respectively, achieving success in Germany and other European territories.

Following their success of their début album in several European territories, the band captured the attention of Vincent DeGiorgio, an A&R rep for RCA Records. After watching the group perform a rendition of their single "Together Again" in Budapest in November 1997, he offered them a record deal with RCA, which the group immediately agreed to. In January 1998, their first German single, "I Want You Back", was released in both the United Kingdom and the United States, becoming their first single in both territories, achieving success on both the UK Singles Chart and the Billboard Hot 100. Around this time, RCA Records announced that they wished to release the group's debut album, which was previously only released in Germany, in both the U.K. and the U.S., however, wanted to make adjustments to suit both markets. This resulted in the tracks "Riddle", "Best of My Life", "More Than a Feeling", "Together Again" and "Forever Young" being cut altogether, and new mixes of "I Want You Back", "Tearin' Up My Heart" and "For the Girl Who Has Everything" being recorded. The new version of the album also included four new tracks: "I Just Wanna Be with You", "God Must Have Spent a Little More Time on You", "Everything I Own", "Thinking of You (I Drive Myself Crazy)". This version of the album was subsequently released in the United States on March 24, 1998.

On June 30, 1998, the group's second German single, "Tearin' Up My Heart", was released in both the U.K. and the U.S., once again achieving success on both charts. Further edits were made for the British version of the album, including remixes of "Thinking of You (I Drive Myself Crazy)", "God Must Have Spent a Little More Time on You" and "For the Girl Who Has Everything", plus an all-new track, "U Drive Me Crazy", written exclusively for the British market. This version of the album was released in the UK on July 5, 1998. At first, sales of the album were mediocre in both British and American territories, until the band's worldwide broadcast Disney Summer Concert in 1998. After the concert was aired, sales of the album began to skyrocket. It reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100 and shipped over 10 million copies in the United States alone, making it certified 10× Platinum and earning the group a RIAA diamond award. On February 9, 1999, a third single from the new version of the album, "(God Must Have Spent) A Little More Time on You", was released exclusively in the United States, peaking at #8 on the Billboard Hot 100. They then went on to become the #3 top-selling boy-band group of all time.

Upon its release, Code Red received generally mixed reviews from most music critics. The album debuted at number 27 on the US Billboard 200 chart, selling 35,656 copies copies in its first week, the singer's lowest-selling debut-week sales.

All Eyez on Me is the third studio album by American recording artist Monica. Named after its same-titled lead single, it marked the singer's first record under Clive Davis' J Records roster and was first released on October 21, 2002 in Japan. The tracks on the album are a mixture of uptempos and ballads, which are basically inspired by contemporary R&B and soul genres; it also features elements of hip hop, dance-pop and gospel music, crafted by musicians suchs as Dallas Austin, Bryan Michael Cox, Jermaine Dupri, Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins, and Soulshock & Karlin.

Released to mixed reviews by music critics, the album reached number 14 on the Japanese Albums Chart. Its preceding two singles, "All Eyez on Me" and "Too Hood", achieved moderate commercial success on the charts however. Expected to be released on November 12, 2002 in the United States, the album was eventually put on hold after it had experienced heavy bootlegging following its Japan-wide release and became widely available through Internet file-sharing services. The album was then partially re-recorded and retooled as After the Storm in 2003 with original album cut, "U Should've Known Better", released as its fourth single in 2004.

Monica - New Life (2012)

New Life is the seventh studio album by American recording artist Monica, released by RCA Records on April 6, 2012. It marked the singer's debut release with the company following the disbandment of her former label, J Records in October 2011. A musical continuation of her commercially successful 2010 album Still Standing, Monica started working on the album only weeks after the release of the former. She reteamed primarily with frequent writers and producers, including Bryan-Michael Cox, Jermaine Dupri, Missy Elliott, and Cainon Lamb but also collaborated with new and upcoming producers such as singer Rico Love, whose songs replaced much of her cousin, producer Polow da Don's original material.

New Life received a mixed reception by critics, many of whom praised Monica's vocal performances and the album's trend-detaching nature but found the material too generic and cliché-addled. Upon its release, the album debuted at number four on the US Billboard 200, and at number two on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, selling 69,000 copies. With first month sales of 116,400 copies, New Life sold significantly less than its predecessors. Monica - Still Standing (2010)

Still Standing is the sixth studio album by American R&B recording artist Monica. It was released on March 19, 2010 by J Records. Recording for the album began in 2007, in which the singer intended to take a more traditional approach to the genre and take away any "gimmicks." As executive producer of the album Monica enlisted a variety of producers including involvement by Missy Elliott, Bryan-Michael Cox, Stargate, and Jermaine Dupri. Production on Still Standing was chronicled by Monica's BET reality series of the same name which was aired between October 2009 and January 2010.

The lead single, "Everything to Me", peaked at number forty-four on the US Billboard Hot 100 and number-one on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart, becoming her first chart-topper in over seven years. The track was nominated for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance at the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards. The second single, "Love All Over Me", was released in May 2010 and reached number two on the R&B/Hip-Hop chart.       The Makings of Me is the fifth studio album by American recording artist Monica, released by J Records on October 3, 2006. Built upon the hip-hop, gospel and quiet storm styles of its predecessor, After the Storm (2003), Monica wanted her follow-up project to sound "very close knit and intimate". Consequently, she enlisted producers including her longtime collaborators Jermaine Dupri, Bryan Michael Cox, and Missy Elliott and new partners including The Underdogs, Tank, LRoc, Swizz Beatz, and Sean Garrett.

The album garnered a mostly positive reception from music critics, and produced four singles of which all failed to chart or sell noticeably. It reached the top of U.S. Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, and number eight on the Billboard 200, selling 328,000 copies in total domestically to date. Monica subsequently recorded new tracks and released the album under the new title, After the Storm.

The album debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart, Monica's first album to do so, and sold 186,000 copies in its first week. The album deviated from the formula of her debut Miss Thang (1995) as she had more creative control over the material she wrote and recorded; a step that she considered a "natural progression". Additionally, she wrote and produced the album's material with David Foster, Diane Warren, Jermaine Dupri, and Rodney Jerkins and his Darkchild crew, some of which would become household names on subsequent albums.

Lead single "The Boy Is Mine", a duet with singer Brandy, became the best-selling song of the year in the United States, spending 13 weeks on top of the US Billboard Hot 100, while peaking at number one in Canada, the Netherlands and New Zealand. "The First Night" and "Angel of Mine", released as the album's second and third single respectively, also became chart topper on Billboard Hot 100.
